WHY DO EQUALITY, DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION MATTER TO US?
The Lucy Faithfull Foundation and Stop It Now! UK and Ireland work to protect all children from all forms of sexual abuse. We are committed to being there for all those who need us.
Children who are sexually abused, and the adults and young people who harm them, come from all backgrounds, communities and walks of life – and it is important this is recognised in our work and how we develop and deliver services.
The LFF five-year strategy is built upon three key pillars – reach, research and advocacy. For reach we are committed to harnessing the talents and aspirations of all sections of our society in the prevention of child sexual abuse. Through our research we will widen evaluation to enhance sector insight and our advocacy will shine a light on how communities can contribute to the prevention agenda.
The Lucy Faithfull Foundation recognises there is still much to do and is committed to continuous improvement in its delivery of a diverse and inclusive service, championing the voice of lived experience and scrutinising our services so that we ensure they reach all.
What are our aims?
We want all of our services to be available to, and used by, anyone who needs them, no matter their gender, culture, sexuality, sexual orientation and/or gender reassignment, nationally, ethnicity and ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, learning style and past and present life experiences.
What are we doing about equality, diversity and inclusion?
As an organisation
- We have a diversity action plan in place, led by a Director, to further embed equality, diversity and inclusion across the charity. This plan will be reviewed annually and progress reported to our staff and Trustees
- Through the implementation of a dedicated Equality, Diversity and Inclusion training programme we have guided staff behaviours and strengthened leadership and role modelling around equality, diversity and inclusion
- Our recruitment approach places diversity at its core, welcoming applications from all sections of society, promoting a flexible working environment and an inclusive recruitment experience. We aim to recruit people from a range of backgrounds and experience
The people we help
- We monitor the accessibility and effectiveness of our services for all sections of society
- We audit the ability of our service delivery to provide an inclusive and diverse response so that services are sensitive to difference and utilise the skills and expertise of our communities in the prevention of child sexual abuse
- We audit the ability of our service delivery to provide an inclusive and diverse response
- We try new ways for our beneficiaries to engage with us and receive our services
- We listen to and involve our service users in the research, delivery and design of our services
Staff and trustees
- We support staff and managers in harnessing all the talent in the organisation and engage staff to promote and celebrate diversity
- We embed the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion within the organisation and help to deliver the charity’s public benefit
- We conduct an annual staff survey which includes questions about how our staff feel the Foundation responds to matters of equality, diversity and inclusion
